Bengals claim Gary Russell

It didn't take long for ex-Steelers RB Gary Russell to find a new home. Pittsburgh released Russell on Thursday; the Cincinnati Bengals claimed him on waivers on Friday.

Well, if nothing else, at least one player on the Bengals' roster will have a Super Bowl ring.

Does anyone know why the Seelers released Russell? I really liked his progress and they carried him last year even prior to Mendenhals injury?

Probably due to Mendenhall coming back 100%, and the signing of Stefan Logan.

poor guy really hurt himself with his college career. a fabulous freshman year, then disaster. has the ingredients to be a solid runner. either the steelers didn't like something he did or they really are confident of Parker/Mendenhall

Gary also got into some trouble in his hometown, Columbus Ohio. But a friend took the wrap. Believe me it was a good choice to let him go.
